Four years after the launch Audi introduced the new face-lifted A5 with a sharpened image. The convertible will follow soon.

Another Coupé? Isn’t it just less car for the money? Or is it a more individual ride with more sensual lines? Even in the carriage era, in pre-motor times, the coupés were the racier rides. If everything would be about practicality and factual usefulness there would be no coupés. Luckily there are. And the new A5 Coupé is a particularly attractive one. For people, who don’t just want to drive from A to B. For those savouring what is between the two letters.
With the quiet, high-torque turbo-diesel the A5 is a comfortable long-distance cruiser. On the windy freshly tarred tarmac stretch through the Hemel-en-Aarde valley towards Hermanus the 2.0-l. petrol Quattro S gives me a teaser of what I can expect from the upcoming 3.0-l.-V6 Quattro tiptronic S5, with 260kW and 500Nm.
The only way to top the S5 will be by going topless to enjoy the glorious sound in an even more intense way. I am now looking forward to the S5 convertible.
